(1) bolt done up too tight (2) a material match between the nut and bolt material ie the metal of the bolt is 'picking up' on the nut thread, this can occur if the nut and bolt are the same material eg the same steel without any protective finish. (3) This can occur if the nut is tightened to fast and friction and hence heat causes the nut/bolt to cold weld together, solution (a) tighten slower (b) use a lubricant. The canopy extension supports will therefore have to stand separate, to a similar design as the originals. As to where the supports used to stand i.e. at the bottom of the steps, we have gone for newel posts, using the replica castings we have had made for the gates. (those with the ball on top, which are contemporary).
The total canopy overhang used to be 7m but was reduced to just 4m due to the closer position of the footbridge. By extending the canopy overhang on to the roof of the steps, we have found another 2m. That gives us an overhang of 6m, close to what it was.
You'll have to see it when it's up, it's a bit hard to explain.
For P2 we are aiming to go for the original layout, by moving the building a few metres south. The alignment is (coincidentaly) almost correct, luckily.Jo https://www.blogger.com/profile/05480195769830116100noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8914276256646518799.post-15821180870835168512018-08-14T14:28:32.935+01:002018-08-14T14:28:32.935+01:00The sole plate was thought to be wrong and we were...The sole plate was thought to be wrong and we were asked to fit it and see.
Now we have reported back - greater brains than ours are now at work.Jo https://www.blogger.com/profile/05480195769830116100noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8914276256646518799.post-16625290998743380732018-08-14T14:25:44.187+01:002018-08-14T14:25:44.187+01:00Please don't leave us hanging; how _did_ you a...Please don't leave us hanging; how _did_ you all solve the problem of the misplaced holes in the sole plate - or was the problem left to be solved another day?

Noel

jnchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14231054273422828946noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8914276256646518799.post-9656359951514592782018-08-14T14:02:25.285+01:002018-08-14T14:02:25.285+01:00Hi Jo. I'll be interested to see how you've resolved the conundrum of extra height/wrong location in the final setup. Where will the compromises be (if any)?? Are the loco dept also completing the canopy at the same time?Peter Leehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15020212199830779526noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8914276256646518799.post-74216347248907304062018-08-13T22:13:33.178+01:002018-08-13T22:13:33.178+01:00Regarding the C130J flying over Winchcombe, from w...Regarding the C130J flying over Winchcombe, from what I've seen at air shows etc, this aircraft is carrying the RAF100 logo on the tail. Several RAF aircraft sport this logo or badge and will do so until the end of September, when the official RAF100 commemorations end.
