It's a charming village, very much like a little Broadway...but without all the tourists.

I think the nearest village to the line is Gretton, though. Gretton Halt was on the western fringe of the village itself. Bishop's Cleeve was probably the next closest. Even back when Bishop's Cleeve really was a village, the line closely skirted the eastern edge of the village. Now, of course, the line goes right through the middle of the Bishop's Cleeve/Woodmancote conurbation.

Here's Gretton, then and now - one of the few locations along the line that has not changed much over the years:

https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/side-by-side/#zoom=16&lat=51.9733&lon=-1.9859&layers=193&right=BingHybMichael Johnsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08386451061160258935noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8914276256646518799.post-36118501333005865382019-11-20T19:07:06.873+00:002019-11-20T19:07:06.873+00:00Have you tried using a spit round the clips, rathe...Have you tried using a spit round the clips, rather than a broom? The blade, being narrow than a shovel, gets in the corners with less effort than a shovel.
I sympathise with your excess ballast problem. We keep experimentally fitting longer rubber 'fingers' and tougher side skirts to our ballast regulator brush drum, in order to do the job mechanically, but the chairs keep shattering them. If not and the wood is frequently soaked would there be a risk of corrosion here. Fitting windows would reduce this risk and also provide protection for the tops of the side panels which have been shown to trap water. A shuttle to Willersey would be a great focus for activity around Broadway Station - maybe the railway could grab a bargain Pacer for the service before they all disappear.Richard Thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05395790943290062932noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8914276256646518799.post-39041565793415402262019-11-18T13:39:19.679+00:002019-11-18T13:39:19.679+00:00Jo, I have to agree with you regarding the fitting...Jo, I have to agree with you regarding the fitting of windows to the central span of the footbridge. Also, I agree with you regarding a short extension north from Broadway to Willersey. It would be good to see some DMU action Broadway from the north.

Regards PaulKAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8914276256646518799.post-59918358843634739772019-11-16T22:44:31.391+00:002019-11-16T22:44:31.391+00:00Having got hold of a broom last wed pm I can tell ...Having got hold of a broom last wed pm I can tell you that the top end of the broom ie. the pole is best for working around the clips and less effort than a shovel so this will be in our works manual for 2020 engagement with excess ballast .
